Bitecast

Terms of Use

Effective 23 October 2026

These terms apply to the Bitecast apps for iOS and Android (“Bitecast”, “we”). By using Bitecast you agree to them. If you download Bitecast from the App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; from Google Play, Google Play’s terms also apply. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle data.

1. Forecasts and identifications are estimates

Bite scores, best times, water temperatures, tides, game plans, Coach answers, species identifications and length or weight estimates are produced by models, AI and public data. They are estimates and can be wrong. Fish do not read forecasts. Always use your own judgement, and check an identification yourself before you keep a fish.

2. Follow local fishing regulations

Bitecast does not tell you what is legal. Fishing rules (licences, seasons, size and bag limits, protected species and closed or private waters) vary by place and change often. You are responsible for knowing and following the rules where you fish; check them with the local authority. A spot shown on the map is not a promise that you may access it or fish there.

3. Safety on the water

Fishing near and on water, ice and in bad weather can be dangerous. Bitecast is not a safety or navigation tool and is not a substitute for official weather warnings, marine forecasts or ice reports. Check official warnings before you go, wear a life jacket, tell someone where you are going, and leave the water when storms or lightning are forecast. Never rely on Bitecast to judge ice thickness or whether conditions are safe.

4. Premium subscriptions

5. Acceptable use

Do not misuse Bitecast: no attempts to break, overload, reverse engineer or resell the service or its API, to get around usage limits, or to use the AI features for anything other than fishing. Photos you submit must be yours to share and must not be unlawful.

6. Your content and third-party data

Your catches, photos, spots and chats belong to you and stay on your phone. Bitecast uses open data from MET Norway, NASA POWER, NOAA, OpenStreetMap contributors, OpenFreeMap / OpenMapTiles and GBIF.org under their licences; see Settings → Data sources in the app. AI features are provided with Anthropic’s Claude.

7. No warranty

Bitecast is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties that it will be accurate, uninterrupted or error-free, or that you will catch fish. Data sources and AI services we rely on may be unavailable or wrong.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any loss or injury arising from relying on forecasts, plans, identifications or spot information, including fines for breaking fishing rules. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Bitecast in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.

9. Changes and ending

We may update these terms; the effective date above shows the latest version, and continuing to use Bitecast after a change means you accept it. You can stop using Bitecast at any time by deleting the app (and cancelling any subscription in your store account). We may suspend access for misuse.
